Welcome to FS2

Pease find below our welcome booklet which gives you general information about being in FS2. If you have any questions, please come and talk to us.

Please note that the classroom doors are now opened at 8.50am.

Reading

Your child will be given a new book each week. When we hear your child read, will we let you know what they did well and how you can help them to improve. Please read with your child at least 3 times a week and put a comment in their home-school book to let us know how they did. Fantastic reading will earn your child a reading token. Each half term a ticket will be drawn out and that child will receive a prize.

 

In first part of the Autumn term, in phonics, we will be concentrating on distinguishing between different sounds. This will carry on from the work your child would have done if they attended FS1 or nursery. Have a look at the websites below for some listening games. (Please do not feel that you need to subscribe. Have a go at the free games).

In Autumn II will be start to learn the letter sounds. Have a look at this website to help you. We learn the sounds NOT the letter names.

Big Cat Collins

Your child will be assigned a book on Big Cat Collins online books. Once they have read it, they will be assigned a new book. You can also earn reading tickets for super reading online!

 

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday on Seesaw which is an online learning platform. You will be sent a code to set up an account. The work will be differentiated to the needs of the children and vary between the different areas of learning. We will set work that either helps them to practice concepts that have been taught or to build on the learning that has taken place in the class that week.
