Autumn 2
The Blues
In this unit we will learn the key features of the blues and to play the 12 bar blues correctly. We will finish this unit by playing our own improvisations.
Spring 1
Our music focus this half term will be on the music of South and West Africa with a focus on call and repeat and the song 'Shosholoza'. We will be using the xylophones to create a musical show with an eight beat break where all our groups will play their composition.
Spring 2
In Spring 2, we are going to be composing with a focus on the Festival of colour (Holi).
Summer 1
Based on the theme of Ancient Egypt, children learn will learn to identify the pitch and rhythm of written notes and experiment with notating their compositions, developing their understanding of staff notation.
