Autumn term
This is an overview of the mathematical areas we are covering this year.
We started our maths, in Year 5, by looking at place value. Here, we worked on some problem solving questions.
We learnt about Prime Numbers and then applied this knowledge to problem solving.
In our fraction unit, we learnt how to add fractions- this included with the same denominator, with different denominators and with mixed numbers.
We worked with our talk partners to solve a variety of multi-step problems.
In this section we investigated cubed numbers practically.
Spring term
This is an overview of the mathematical areas we are covering this year.
This is our work on columnar multiplication.
We learnt how to use the bus stop method for division. We began by using place value counters and then moved on to the formal method.
