These are our reading texts for this year.
In the Autumn term, we will be reading the magical The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Our text for the Spring term is the exciting Who let the Gods Out and we finish with the wonderful Cogheart in the Summer term.
WRITING in Year 5
Autumn 1
Our writing opportunities for this half term are based on the text- The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.
We will be writing a setting description of MT Tumnus's cave; a report about the White Witch and a motivational speech where she call to her army.
Autumn 2
We will begin our writing, this half term, with a trip review of our visit to the Richard III museum in Leicester. We will then work on writing a short story of our own visit to an imaginary world and a biography of C. S. Lewis.
Spring 1
Our writing opportunities for this half term are writing our own Greek myths and playscript based on Horrible Histories and Alexander the Great.
Spring 2
Our writing opportunities for this half term are based on our text- Who Let The Gods Out by Maz Evans.
We will be writing a diary from the point of view of Virgo who is a character in the book and a focus on dialogue between two characters.
Summer term
Our writing opportunities this term are based on the text, Cogheart by Peter Bunzl.
We will be writing a newspaper report, a non chronological report about our own mechanimal or robot, an advert to sell our robot and a short adventure story based on the characters from the book.
We will also be studying poetry.
Spellings
Your children will be bringing home spellings each week.

Please make sure that your child is practising these each week.
