You may have seen stories in the media recently about the Momo Challenge which has appeared on Children’s YouTube and via social media and networking apps. There are also concerns that it is hacking into many children’s websites considered safe to use, such as Peppa Pig.
The Momo Challenge is a form of cyberbullying that actively aims to scare children and encourages them into dangerous, even life threatening activities. Momo is represented online by a distorted and frightening image of a girl’s face.
We have had reports in school this week of children being frightened by it whilst they have been online.
As a school we feel that we need to make parents aware of this latest online issue and encourage you to monitor your child’s access to the internet.
