Floating and Sinking
1) Collect some objects from around the house that can go in water.
2) Explain to your child that you are going to see what happens to each object when they put them in the water.
3) Get your child to explain what is happening to each of the objects in turn. If they use one word or just a couple of words, repeat back to them what they said using a longer sentence e.g.
Child: It on top
Adult: Yes, the duck is floating on top of the water.
Make sure you use the language of floating and sinking/sunk.
4) Record what has happened either using pictures or words.
Why have I put the cooking apple in the middle of the two columns?
