Red Nose Day 2019

This year we supported Red Nose Day by holding a funniest joke competition. Every child in the school was given the opportunity to enter, and winners were chosen from each class. Our two overall school winners were in Navya in Year 1 (Key Stage 1) and Hassan in Year 4 (Key Stage 2). You can hear their jokes below.

Thank you to those of you who donated and helped us raise our total of £369.80.

Children in Need 2018

This year Buswells went Dance-tastic for Children in Need. We boogied, bopped and jived our way to a whopping £1200 donation. Thank you to each and every person who donated money. Special mentions go to the following children who raised extra-ordinary amounts via sponsorship: Taher (FS2), Jenson (Year 2), Ethan L (Year 3), Jacob (Year 3), Lewis (Year 4), Zahra (Year 4) and Lacey (Year 6).

Buswells Got Talent Final 2018

WOW Buswells Lodge! What a great final! Each performer was amazing and did themselves and their classes extremely proud. Extra special congratulations to our three winning finalists.

3rd place - Maddie in Y5

2nd place - Igor in Y2

1st place - Lewan in Y1

Special thanks also to our four judges: Mrs Lathwood-Birch, Miss Stone, Miss Coleman and Josh in Y4 - last year's winner.

This year the school council have decided to use their own fund raising events to raise money for school equipment.  We will still continue to support other charities such as The Poppy Appeal, Children In Need, Save The Children and Comic/Sport Relief.

The school council have also voted to run a variety of in school competitions across the course of the year such as Design a Red Nose and Buswells' Got Talent.

Filbert The Fox Replies

After his fantastic help as part of our Sports Relief fundraising, Filbert The Fox was sent a thank you email by two of our Year 4 councillors (Maryhat and Aayu). Below is his reply.

Sport Relief 2018

What a busy week we had at Buswells Lodge as part of Sport Relief.  Across the course of the week, the whole school had the chance to push themselves and complete a sponsored mile - whether they ran, jogged or walked.  It was amazing to see children and staff put in so much effort for such a worthwhile cause.  Everyone should be very proud of themselves! In total, the school managed to contribute an amazing 2,176,977 steps to the Sport Relief total.

We then finished off the week with a rather hectic, but fun-filled day.  We all came dressed as our sporting heroes - special mention to the Year 4 staff - and loads of us took up the opportunity to fire a penalty (or 10) at Mr Smith.  Some of us even got to take penalties at Filbert Fox - yes...the Filbert Fox!

So far, we have raised a huge £1,218.87, but this is likely to increase as money was still coming in for sponsorship late on the Friday afternoon.  The school council would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children, staff and parents who contributed to this amazing effort.

However, there were some children who went above any beyond with their sponsorship efforts, and we're sure you'll agree that they deserve a special mention:

Lacey - FS1 - £85

Aaliyah - Year 3 - £37

Lewis - Year 3 - £50

Jack-Jay - Year 4 - £40.50

Karmel - Year 6 - £42

Kaylum - Year 6 - £24

Please take the time to look through some of the wonderful photos that were taken throughout the course of the week.
